Yellow Fever at Hilo Bay

Well, at least the tree was yellow.

It’s a Golden Shower tree that was completely covered in blossoms.  It has been quite the attraction while blooming and I even found a weary traveler resting among the branches.

I’m looking forward to the Rainbow Shower trees as they bloom this spring in Hilo.

  1. I wonder if this is a Tabebuia tree? Are you sure it is a Golden Shower Tree? I saw this last weekend and it took my breath away.

  2. Hi Kim,

It is a beautiful tree in a cool location. I’m pretty sure it’s a shower tree…but I’m no expert. I did some research and asked around and everyone thought it was a shower tree. I could be wrong, though. 🙂

  3. Either way, it was a shocking beauty while in bloom. By Valentine’s Day, all the flowers had fallen from the tree leaving it a dark skeleton against the blue sky and water.

  4. Found the article from the Trib and they seem to think it is a Primavera tree. Your guess is as good as mine. 🙂
