Wild Hawai'i Teacher's Guide

7 Easy Steps to get on the trail with Wild Hawai'i

  1. Read through the information on the website
  2. Call Wild Hawai'i's Program Director to learn more & schedule your trip – 874-1256
  3. Download the Program Guide for the theme or site you choose
  4. Read it and fill out a few simple required forms (registration, etc.)
  5. Work with Wild Hawai'i to prepare for the field study
  6. Introduce your students to the concepts in the classroom
  7. Meet us at the curb the morning of your trip!

The Wild Hawai'i team provides teachers with a curriculum focusing on observation techniques, cultural ahupua'a principles and practices, and forest, stream and coastal plant and wildlife identification. To prepare for the field study, teachers need to facilitate classroom discussions about Hawaiian watershed management and how it has evolved over time, as well as considerations for developing sustainable watershed management policies.
