About Hawai'i
Wildlife Fund
HAWAI'I WILDLIFE FUND is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation
of Hawai'i's native wildlife through research, education and conservation. Hawai'i
Wildlife Fund's members are educators, conservationists, researchers, naturalists,
volunteers, and donors dedicated to the preservation of Hawai'i's fragile marine
ecosystem and inhabitants. We bring a variety of experiences together to serve
a common goal.
HWF-trained naturalists teach thousands of visitors
each year in the field about Hawai'i's marine life and about respectful,
low-impact human behavior. Hawai'i Wildlife Fund conducts whale naturalist
training classes each season as part of an education program at Maui
Community College, and through Hawai'i Community College on the Big Island.
Hawai'i Wildlife Fund actively pursues projects to
help improve Hawai'i's native wildlife and marine habitat, including marine
debris cleanup programs, beach cleanups, storm drain stenciling, and
public awareness of potentially harmful development proposals. We are
also in our third year of data collection studying long term human use
patterns of the highly-impacted La Perouse Bay (Keoneoio) area of south
Maui. This data has been requested by the State of Hawai'i, the Maui County
Council, and the University of Hawai'i.

About Hike Maui
HIKE MAUI is the oldest adventure/eco land tour on Maui. Begun in 1983, its
guides are all trained naturalists who weave geology, botany, ethnobotany
and history in amongst the fun of hiking. Their
stories are inspiring and
fascinating. It
is Hike Maui's intention to provide an introduction to the natural beauty
of Maui; teaching the history and workings of nature; guiding safely into
pristine and breath-taking environments; and sharing the uplifting energy
of this island in a way that expands awareness, increases well-being and
instills a sense of wonder and awe at the workings of nature. The team at
Hike Maui has wanted to reach out to Maui's youth for many years and found
the right team to help fulfill the dream when they helped to create Wild
Hawai'i.
